Wimco's first store in 1928 | Curacao

In 1928 the WEST INDIA MERCANTILE CO. N.V., WIMCO as it is locally known, was established. Before that it was known as a proprietorship of the founder, the late Mr. Egon Gerstl: Egon Gerstl y Compania.

In the early 1920's and 30's Wimco marketed merchandise as BUICK cars, REMINGTON office machines, CAMPBELL soup, KEDS shoes, MARTELL cognac, HERCULES bicycles and many others.

Adapting to “modern” times, WIMCO entered the electrical household, air-conditioning, electronic and commercial appliances field. Gaining expertise with the years, WIMCO grew to be the largest appliance store in Curaçao with currently two showrooms, the largest assortment of spare parts in inventory and a 32 men service department for your convenience.

Currently WIMCO is the authorized factory representatives for world renowned brands such as GE (General Electric), Trane, Miele, Westinghouse, LG, Frigidaire, KitchenAid and Speed Queen to name a few.
